Danny M. Vaughn, MD

Danny M. Vaughn, M.D. has dedicated a significant part of his medical education to advanced laparoscopic surgery as well as laparoscopic bariatric surgery. He is a native of Rhine, GA and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia. He went on to earn his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. Dr. Vaughn completed his surgical residency training at Atrium Health Navicent (formerly Medical Center of Central Georgia). During his postgraduate training he developed an interest in laparoscopic surgery as well as weight loss surgery. He then completed a fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He had intensive training in laparoscopic techniques, including gastrointestinal, solid organ, as well as hernia surgery. Dr. Vaughn also obtained extensive training in laparoscopic bariatric surgical procedures including Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, and Gastric Banding. Dr. Vaughn is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Vaughn is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Mercer University School of Medicine Department of Surgery at Atrium Health Navicent. He serves as Medical Director of the bariatric surgery program as well. He also serves as Director of Mercer University's Surgery Clerkship.
