Sherard Chiu, MD
Dr. Chiu is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After this, he completed his General Surgery residency at Atlanta Medical Center and then went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Chiu is double boarded by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He has received the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Fellow Certification, along with the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons Fellowship Certification. He is also certified with the daVinci System for robotic surgery.
Dr. Chiu has dedicated himself to helping individuals overcome their struggles with obesity. He understands the hardships associated with the disease and seeks to improve the lives of each patient.
Dr. Chiu is proud to be part of New York Bariatric Group and will bring his expertise to expand the bariatric surgery services in the state of Connecticut. His goal is to improve the quality and longevity of life for obese patients utilizing surgical and non-surgical options.
